MUP 8- MRP on MUP

Post by Keeper Dan » Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:36 pm

Episode 8 moves away from the usual rule book discussion, and talks about the general feel of Lovecraft country with guest host Tom Lynch of Miskatonic River Press!

Our listener feedback included the following...

John from the Nerdbound podcast wrote in to ask the difference between Art skills and Craft skills. He also left us a great liner at the beginning of the show.

Tracie writes to share that she's about to GM for the first time, and it will be in Call of Cthulhu.

Tyler asks what kinds of spells would be good for Mythos being to posses. We talk about the obvious ones, and we end up with a deadly combination we call the Yig-Young!
He also mentions an adventure set in modern times called Goddess that uses Dark Young in an environmental way.

We got more iTunes Reviews! Please stop by there and leave us a review and rating.

The Campus Crier wraps up with an audio comment from Randall, one of the members of the Skype of Cthulhu crew!

The main part of the show is a mixture of interview and topic discussion with Tom. We discuss the regions of what has been come to be known as Lovecraft Country, and what we all find appealing about it as a setting.

We find out about some of the new products in the works over at Miskatonic River Press, including a New York based sourcebook called Tales of the Sleepless City. Expect to see this book later in 2012.
Desktop images of the cover art are available on the MRP Downloads page.

Tom also mentions The Strange Dark One: Tales of Nyarlathotep, a fiction book they're working on.
They also have a book called A Season In Carcosa that will go into depth on the King in Yellow and Carcosa tales.

Tom mentions a number of the guests coming to NecronomiCon-Providence in late August of 2013.
Their Facebook address is here, and they have a Twitter account too.

We have a lot of mentions of various things in this show:
Cthulhu ski masks
Mystic Order of the Elder Gods fez
Arkham Now
