I need to listen to you guy's actual plays now!
So I've finally had the time to load up the Shoggy pic... Here it is, please feel free to critique as you see fit.

Dr. G and Keeper Dan, thanks for you suggestions, please post which actual play podcasts these events relate to?
Thank you too Thomas, I hope the pic has enough tentacles for you?

Hi, sorry I didn't respond earlier.Keeper Dan wrote:From just the one pic, I'm not sure what your strengths are. Are you good with people and full scenes? Action?
If you wanted to do something iconic from our own MUP games, maybe Richard tossing luggage out of a train car window with a shocked Wally looking on. I have no idea if that's in your wheelhouse though.
Another idea is to just do your rendition of characters or monsters. What do you think a Byakhee or Mi-go look like? I'm always interested in people's interpretations.
I'm happy with human subjects, and action pictures aren't too difficult... I'd really like to illustrate some MU actual plays, though it would help if I could get an idea of what your characters look like. Please name someone famous you'd want to see cast in the role, or link to a picture of the character and I'll have something to start with. Also please note which AP I should listen to to get the scene.
Thank you.

In the morning, mist comes up from the sea by the cliffs beyond Kingsport. White and feathery it comes from the deep to its brothers the clouds, full of dreams of dank pastures and caves of leviathan.

Yay,
So after 8 hours spread out over a month I've just finished sketching my 1775 map of Arkham. Here is the initial picture, though I'm trying to get this scanned professionally for more detail.

It's a nice looking map- did you use a specific historical model?
There are some anachronisms- Aylesbury and its Pike aren't established until 1802. I also thought the North side of Arkham wasn't developed until after the Revolution as well.
Is this just a personal project or is it related to the forthcoming Colonial Lovecraft Country line?

1. I used several period maps as inspiration, including Boston Mass. and several smaller English towns. I started work on this map after seeing something about the Sixty Stone Press note about their upcoming Colonial Lovecraft Country source books. I signed up for their playtesting and will be using the finished map in my own playtests when representing Arkham. I used the playtesting description for Arkham, HPL's original handrawn map, Gahan Wlson's map (which included a North side to the town), and Chaosium's plan view byG Dizerega... All with a few modifications (I made it a bit smaller / fewer roads etc, and changed some of the names ie no Federal Street or Washington Street).WinstonP wrote:It's a nice looking map- did you use a specific historical model?

2. I didn't read anything on Aylesbury or the Pike, so simply included both!!! Curses. I would be very grateful if you could point me towards your sources on the dating for both. Thank you.
3. While this is an entirely personal project so far (for use with my playtesting group), I will offer this to Sixty Stone Press, if they feel it meets their requirements (and if they actually need and like it) for their Colonal Lovecraft line... If they reject it then it will just remain on DeviantArt.
Thank you for pointing out the anachronisms!
The Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia gives the 1802 date for Aylesbury and the Pike; Turnpikes tended to only be built after 1790 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/19th-centu ... sachusetts.Riq wrote:2. I believe I was thinking of the town square on the north side of Arkham only being developed after the Revolution, but I will have to check my book when I have some spare time.
Definitely pass the map onto Sixtystone. It is a very nicely done piece of work.
